John Michael 'Ziggy' Koziel Sr., age 61, of New Eagle, Pa., died unexpectedly Saturday, January 23, 2016 in
his home.
He was born on Wednesday, August 25, 1954 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of John Eugene Koziel and Rose Marie
(Moser) Koziel, who survive and reside in Uniontown.
John graduated from Laurel Highlands High School, Class of 1972.
For the past sixteen years he has been employed by United States Steel's Clairton Works as a Machinist.
His memberships include Saint Damien of Molokai Church in Monongahela and the International Hot Rod
Association.
John's passion was drag racing with his son at Keystone Raceway Park in New Alexandria.
He loved spending time with his grandson John and looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family.
He was a tinkerer, very knowledgeable when it came to working on cars and enjoyed listening to classic rock-n-roll.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Kelly Koziel and Anthony Marino, and son, John Michael
'Bubba' Koziel Jr. and wife Ericka, all of New Eagle, Pa. grand son, John Michael Koziel III three sisters and two
brothers: Joyce Walters and husband Jim 'Buck' of Hopwood, Pa., Tom Koziel and Barb Ryan of Uniontown, Pa.,
Bob Koziel and wife Leslie of New Eagle, Pa., Patty Perkins and husband Jeff of Uniontown, Pa., Lori Mariotti and
husband Brian of Connellsville, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Koziel and his sister and brother-in-law, Rose Ann and Wesley
'Sonny' Hough.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL
HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063 (724.258.6136).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Damien of Molokai
Church, 722 West Main Street, Monongahela, Pa., with Reverend Father George F. Chortos as the Celebrant.
Committal services and interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery, 800 Country Club Road, Monongahela,
PA 15063.
The family suggests contributions in John's memory be made to the Rose Ann Hough Memorial Lunch Award, c/o
